TENAFLY, N.J.—For this year’s spring production, the Tenafly High School is proud to present “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time,” the deeply thoughtful play by Simon Stephens, based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Mark Haddon.

The play will be performed Thursday, Friday and Saturday, May 2, 3 and 4, at 7:30 p.m. in The Collins-Tall Auditorium, 19 Columbus Drive, Tenafly.

The show has been cast and directed by Tenafly High School Theater/Speech Director Samuel Ahn-Cooper, who is eager to showcase this popular and timely play, which debuted with great Broadway success at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre in 2014.

The Curious Incident chronicles 15-year-old math genius Christopher Boone, who lives with his dad in a working-class town outside of London. After being falsely accused of killing a neighbor’s dog, he decides to investigate the crime. Highly intelligent, but hypersensitive to the sounds and stresses of everyday life, Christopher uncovers some disturbing family secrets during his search that prompt him leave home and his familiar surroundings to take a life-altering train-trip to London.

“The Curious Incident is a powerful story with important, challenging themes,” says Ahn-Cooper. “Since Christopher is a young man on the Autism spectrum it is important to play the role honestly and truthfully. We have done some really interesting and unique things with our production, including having the role of Christopher played by both a male and female student. Also infusing Electronic Dance music, unique choreography and the use of projections through-out the production. We hope that the show will resonate with the audience.”

The cast of 22 students is directed and choreographed by the following Tenafly High School professional staff: Ahn-Cooper, director/choreographer; Steve Moger, technical director; and Andrew Graziano, producer. Featured roles are Gili Zaifman, Guy Maslaton, Alika Saxena, Omer Raz, Dene Chung and Billie Singer.

Tickets are $15 premium; $10 for students and seniors, $10 for general admission. To purchase tickets, visit www.tenaflytheatre.com or buy at the door.
