Bergen County, New Jersey—County authorities arrested four—including an Englewood man who recently served a state prison sentence stemming from a 2011 home burglary in Old Tappan—in connection with a series of burglaries at eight residences in six Bergen municipalities between June 16 and 25.
Aasimm Boone, 35, of 198 Waldo Place in Englewood, was arrested on July 16. He is accused of burglary and other charges from incidents in Englewood, Tenafly, Hackensack, Teaneck, Oradell and Paramus during the course of 10 days in June.
Boone served a mandatory minimum two-year state prison term starting in 2014 before being paroled after he was convicted of shouldering in the front door of an unoccupied Old Tappan residence on Nov. 15, 2011. At the time, borough police said that he had nearly escaped by calling himself a cab from an adjacent development.
Boone was also in Bergen County Jail in 2001 on robbery charges, and again in 2007 over drug, weapon and conspiracy charges from Englewood, Bergen County Sheriff’s Department records show.
In June 2018, detectives found Boone and others had been using a rental car to commit numerous residential burglaries, said Acting Prosecutor Dennis Calo, a lead derived on information Hackensack cops shared with the county’s Special Investigations Squad.
A law enforcement taskforce tracked the vehicle, using multiple databases, and produced a historic timeline of multiple burglaries, Calo said.
“Through witness interviews, surveillance, video and other law enforcement investigative techniques, search warrants and arrest warrants were issued,” said Calo.
Other suspects arrested in connection with some of the incidents include: Joslin Harrington, 32, of Irvington; Justin Dahzy, 19, of Bogota; and Valerie Joyner, 27, of Wanaque.

• June 16: In connection to a Paramus burglary, Boone and Joyner are charged with burlgary, criminal mischief, theft and possession of burglary tools.
• June 18: In connection to Teaneck and Englewood burglaries, Boone is charged with burglary, criminal mischief and possession of burglary tools.

Calo said the charges are accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. He thanked the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office and the Englewood, Englewood Cliffs, Hackensack, Teaneck, Tenafly, Oradell, Paramus, and Rochelle Park police departments for their assistance.
