WESTWOOD, N.J. — Westwood Cares is appealing to the community for donations as its funds for helping local residents facing financial emergencies run critically low.
The nonprofit assists Westwood residents who are struggling to meet basic needs but do not qualify for state aid. Those receiving help include older adults, people with disabilities or illnesses, and unemployed residents.
Community donations have enabled Westwood Cares to provide partial rent payments to prevent homelessness, help avert utility shutoffs, purchase food and medicine, provide heating oil, and cover essential expenses such as car insurance.
“Our funds are very low right now, and we need the Westwood community’s assistance so we can continue our mission to help our neighbors,” the organization said in its appeal.
Westwood Cares is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit funded entirely through donations. Contributions of any amount may be made in several ways:
