TOWNSHIP OF WASHINGTON, NJ—Ambulance crews from the Township of Washington and the Borough of Westwood turned out to recruit on Nov. 16 at Westwood Regional High School.

Washington EMTs explained that they volunteer their spare time to ensure that the Township and surrounding towns have emergency ambulance coverage at all times. They are members of the Pascack Valley Mutual Aid Group, which also includes Westwood, Hillsdale, Emerson, the Tri-Boro area (Park Ridge, Woodcliff Lake, and Montvale) and River Vale and Old Tappan.

Pictured left to right are (for Westwood) Jerry Sheridan, Ed Casey, Ruth Ann Lang, Linda Andresen, and Denise B. Burns, then (for the Township of Washington) Justin Tsai, Beatrice Napier, and Robert Fox. Not pictured is EMT trainee Jadyn Hermanns, a senior at the high school.

Of note, Burns serves both the Township and the Borough corps. Napier has served for the past 42 years: “Half my life,” she says proudly.
