Heat advisory issued for Bergen County through Wednesday evening

Heat Advisory

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Bergen County and surrounding areas from 11 a.m. Tuesday through 8 p.m. Wednesday, with heat index values expected to reach the mid to upper 90s.

Officials warn that hot temperatures and high humidity may increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, particularly for seniors and those with chronic health conditions.

Residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activity, use air conditioning when possible, and check on vulnerable neighbors, friends, and family members. Homes without air conditioning may remain dangerously hot even after outdoor temperatures begin to fall.

Anyone showing signs of heat stroke should be moved to a cool location immediately and 911 should be called.
