ENGLEWOOD, N.J. — The Women’s Rights Information Center has received more than $1.2 million in grants to expand services for individuals and families throughout Bergen County.
The Englewood-based nonprofit said the funding will support services related to violence prevention, trauma recovery, workforce development, housing assistance and family stability.
The grants include $263,992 from the U.S. Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women to provide flexible financial assistance to individuals and families impacted by violence; $461,000 in U.S. Department of Labor Community Project Funding to support workforce development, job readiness training and economic empowerment; and $465,000 in U.S. Department of Justice Community Project Funding to provide trauma therapy to victims of crime.
WRIC also received $25,000 from the Lydia Collins deForest Charitable Trust for wraparound services supporting individual stability and self-sufficiency, and $10,000 from the Columbia Bank Foundation for housing assistance.
“These grants will make a meaningful difference for individuals and families in Bergen County,” Executive Director Lil Corcoran said. “At a time when more people are turning to us for help, we’re grateful for the opportunity to provide support to those who need it.”
Founded in 1973, WRIC is based at 108 W. Palisade Ave. in Englewood. The organization provides programs and services intended to support economic opportunity, self-sufficiency and emotional well-being.
