WOODCLIFF LAKE—New Concepts for Living invites the community to walk, wheel, run or stroll for a cause Sunday, Oct. 4, at its annual Walk-a-Thon at Wood Dale County Park, 100 Prospect Ave.

Registration opens at 9 a.m., followed by an opening ceremony at 9:45. The walk begins at 10 and continues until noon, rain or shine. Participants can complete the accessible half-mile loop as many times as they like. Friendly, leashed dogs are welcome, and light snacks and refreshments will be served.

Proceeds will support NCFL’s capital campaign for a new Aquatic Therapy Center, planned to open in fall 2027 as part of its Achievement Center day program on Route 17 in Paramus.

“We invite the community to come out and walk, wheel or stroll with us at this annual fundraiser that supports our programs for the I/DD community we serve,” said Sharon Smicea, NCFL director of development. “Every dollar raised this year will be allocated to our Aquatic Therapy Center which will allow our participants to improve strength, balance, mobility, communication, confidence and overall well-being through the healing power of water.”

New Concepts for Living is a nonprofit organization providing community housing, day programs, therapeutic services and 24/7 behavioral services for adults 21 and older with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Participants may register individually, create a team or join an existing team. Registration is $50 for adults and $30 for children and includes a T-shirt. Advance registration is available, and participants may also register at the event. Sponsorships begin at $250, and tax-deductible donations are welcome.
