ENGLEWOOD, N.J.—Candidates opposing each other for Englewood’s school board as well as a City Council at-Large seat and two of three mayoral candidates will face off at two separate candidate nights this week on Tuesday and Thursday sponsored by the League of Women Voters – Northern Valley Chapter.
On Tuesday Oct. 30, the two candidates vying for one At-Large council seat – incumbent Democrat Councilman Charles Cobb and Republican challenger Glenn Coley are scheduled to appear at 7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Courtroom at 73 South Van Brunt St.
Joining them Oct. 30 will be two of three city mayoral candidates, Republican Dierdre Paul and Independent Horace Ragbir. Democrat Michael Wildes was invited but declined to participate.
The League also sponsors a school board candidates’ forum on Thursday, Nov. 1, at 8:00 p.m. at Dr. Leroy McCloud Elementary School at 325 Tenafly Road. Candidates include: Juan S. Berrios, Howard L. Haughton, Donovan A. Rodriques, Molly Craig-Berry, and George Garrison III.
Frank said residents traveling north on Tenafly Road should turn right on Cambridge Avenue, and at Highland Avenue turn right and proceed to the school entrance for parking.
“Residents should attend the candidates’ nights to find out who is the best person to help run our schools and be on our City Council. It’s a good chance to see the candidates in one place and especially get a chance to see all five school board candidates together in one night,” said Nancy Ferer, a League spokeswoman.
