WESTWOOD—Home For the Holidays, the unofficial start to the holiday season in the Pascack Valley, is set for Saturday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. and organizers tell Pascack Press they’re looking forward to a terrific turnout.

“As you know, last year’s parade was postponed and this year we are committed to making this outdoor event as safe and enjoyable as possible,” said Mike Fitzsimmons for the Home For the Holidays Committee.

“This year’s parade will look different in small ways, with no hot chocolate or food unless from restaurants; no trackless train; and few indoor activities. Plans are still in process, but we hope to have a few new events to fill in and create new traditions,” Fitzsimmons said on Oct. 4.

This year’s theme: “Frontline Heroes — honoring our first responders.”

Want to march? There are a few details. All groups participating must provide a certificate of insurance, general liability for any organization marching, as well as automobile liability for any float or vehicle.

Once the committee has your parade groups’ paperwork it will issue a parade pass and line-up number on Monday evening, Nov. 29, the first night of Hanukkah.

“As is always the case, the parade will go on in rain or snow if it must. There is no rain date, so plan accordingly,” Fitzsimmons said.

He added, “Thank you for making this the great traditional start to the holiday season in the Pascack Valley and we look forward to seeing you on Saturday, Dec. 4 on Roosevelt and Lexington avenues.”

The committee added, “Have a great time – we do this for the kids and the kid in all of us!”
