COMMUNITY VOICES: Knoller for Downing, Dinallo

To the editor:

This is my eighth year serving on the Emerson Borough Council. Serving on the council is a great honor and a tremendous amount of work. I’ve been honored to serve the borough residents. I’m proud to say that I have worked well with two former mayors and many different council members for the betterment of the borough.

This year has been quite the challenge. I have been extremely disappointed this year with the lack of any progress on getting any significant initiatives done. I have also been concerned that the current administration was moving forward on the fate of Borough Hall without doing their due diligence. There has been a lack of transparency and communication to the council members on my side of the aisle, which is truly unfortunate and wrong. Partisan politics has no place at the local level and it should simply be about doing what’s best for all of Emerson. We have received more last minute agenda revisions on late Tuesday afternoons just prior to the council meeting in the first 10 months this year than my previous seven years combined.

Emerson needs and deserves smart, dedicated public servants who work well with others and put aside their personal desires for the good of the town. Emerson needs and deserves smart, dedicated public servants who have experience working with others, who can disagree respectfully, who understand their limitations and make intelligent decisions based on doing the right thing for the right reasons rather than doing favors for political allies.

My friends Brian Downing and Pat Dinallo have been serving Emerson in volunteer positions for years, and I know they will do what is best for the town if chosen to serve on Emerson Council.  Please vote for them Nov. 5.
