COMMUNITY VOICES: ‘Re-elect Elizabeth Gloeggler’

To the editor:

Montvale Council President Elizabeth Gloeggler is up for re-election on Nov. 5. Her three years of excellent representation of her constituents demonstrate the clear case for her re-election, in particular, the enthusiasm, professionalism and fresh ideas she brings to the council every day. Elizabeth is “always there” whenever we see major town decisions and events—a dedication that epitomizes her service.

She works on key committees such as finance, where we can see the diligence both to keeping our budget on track and fulfilling responsibilities to provide public services such as quality improvements in parks and roads that had been sidelined in recent years.

At the same time, Elizabeth has fostered better planning processes such that we weren’t assessed tax increases last year. Her work as the liaison to the Board of Education reveals her dedication to our school system.

On top of all this, she was instrumental in modernizing Montvale TV so that Montvalians can now actually hear the debates happening in the council chambers without leaving the comforts of home.

Finally, it remains important to have party diversity represented on our council. Perennially a town where questions could and did arise over financial and other decisions made by an all-Republican council, Elizabeth provides a needed voice of contrast as the sole Democrat.

We witnessed this contrast in the recent debate over flying the Pride flag at the town hall. Nonetheless, because she works so well with others and is so well-liked, she was elected council President this year.

All in all, Montvale could not pick a better council member than Elizabeth Gloeggler. Please come out and vote on Nov. 5 for Elizabeth.

Also, if you’re on vacation that week because of the New Jersey teachers’ convention, please look into voting early so your opinion will count!
