POLICE BLOTTER: Smell of Marijuana Led to Charges for Dumont Driver

HARRINGTON PARK, N.J.—On June 23 at 1:20 a.m., a 55-year-old male from Dumont was arrested for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, having an open container of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle, and other motor vehicle infractions. 

Officer Michael Getto initiated a motor vehicle stop for a motor vehicle infraction and while speaking with the operator, detected an odor of burnt marijuana. Further investigation revealed a greenish brown vegetation believed to be marijuana.

The male operator was charged with the following offenses and released: possession of a controlled dangerous substance, drugs; possession of drug paraphernalia; failure to maintain lamps on the motor vehicle; open container of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle; possession of drugs by a motor vehicle operator.
