COMMUNITY VOICES: Bruno and Ullman for ‘Experience, Not Politics’

To the editor:

Michael Ullman and Robert Bruno have decided to run again as Independents in the upcoming November elections. We are tried and true and sticking with the Independent Party. We still strongly believe in the fact that there aren’t any political affiliations that have influenced either of us over the past four years. No committee chairman, no deep pockets for campaigns, no balloons, no chocolates, no favors, no paybacks, nobody pulling the strings.  Just our dedication to the residents.

The town has gone through a considerable and recognizable change since our taking office in 2016:

Four years of reduced municipal taxes, and the 2019 rate is minimally above the 2015 rate. Council meetings are televised; we have financial transparency, responsible spending, proper budgeting procedures, accountability, equipment upgrades, a more aggressive road program, and a fix for the drainage issue at the police department; an open dialogue with employees, residents, and department heads; flashing stop signs; adherence to ordinances; and we’re working  with all emergency service departments to understand their needs.

And although we take it for granted, let’s not forget we made sure there are soap dispensers and hot water at the municipal building.

With your support there is no doubt we will continue to add to the list.

Changing a ship around to take a different course is not always an easy task, especially when you are up against the same old ways, but we have proven results and have accomplishments.

Our residents are looking at a more than $10 million capital expansion program in the next few years. It is proven there was a lack of financial control and professional experience and there demonstrably are no better councilmen to safeguard our money than the both of us.

Not many municipalities can say they passed on to the residents a tax decrease, four years running. Our record speaks for itself. We encourage you to attend or view the council meetings, particularly the budget process.

We have listened to you, the residents, for a change, and as always, we are here to help! Thank you for your vote Nov. 5.
