COMMUNITY VOICES: Former Members For Arroyo (and Schepisi and Auth)

To the editor:

As former members of Westwood’s Borough Council we have always and continue to strongly support the Always Westwood team and Ray Arroyo for mayor.  We all encouraged Ray to run when Bill Phayre’s seat became open. We did so because we knew of Ray’s reputation as a Zoning Board member. Ray was always thoughtful and prepared when he reviewed applications because he knew that his decisions effected all residents. He also thoroughly understood land use laws.

We have all served with Ray and know firsthand his dedication to and love for Westwood. We continue to stand behind our collective belief that Westwood needs to remain a town and not a city. Ray will not be about the spotlight or partisan politics. He is about local issues that effect you. Westwood needs his experience and sound judgement.

We have also served on the Borough Council with Mayor Birkner. We have seen firsthand how he conducts business and where he puts his priorities.  Therefore, we encourage you to support Assemblywoman Holly Schepisi and Assemblyman Robert Auth. Assemblywoman Schepisi has always looked out for Westwood. She was in the forefront in our efforts to reopen our hospital, she sought financial funding for Blue Acres and Green Acres post Hurricanes Floyd and Irene, and she has come to Westwood to discuss affordable housing, education, school safety and other issues. Assemblywoman Schepisi looks at the issues and votes based on what’s best for everyone, not what’s best for her political career.
