COMMUNITY VOICES: Seeking Clarification On Hillsdale Mayor’s Warning

To the editor:

I am confused by a letter that was sent out to the town of Hillsdale via e-mail blast as well as published in the Pascack Press on Oct. 7, “Mayor Says Services Will Be Affected.”

The letter initially spoke about the resignation of Jonathan DeJoseph, Hillsdale’s borough administrator, chief municipal financial officer, and qualified purchasing agent.

In the mayor’s last paragraph he states, “It is inevitable that the level of service that Hillsdale residents and employees have come to expect will be affected in some way during the transition.”

I would like to have some clarification as to what services will be affected. Garbage? Recycling? Leaf removal? Police? Fire Department? Ambulance? Hillsdale has many employees that work tirelessly to keep this town safe and beautiful. It is concerning that our own mayor does not have the faith in the many employees that work tirelessly to keep this town functioning the way that it does.

I believe that all the excellent services that we have come to know in Hillsdale will continue as one man’s resignation should not affect an entire town.
