COMMUNITY VOICES: Supporting Arroyo, Dell, and Biccochi

To the editor:

Join me in supporting Westwood incumbents Arroyo for mayor, and Dell and Bicocchi for council because results matter.

Looking back two election cycles (six years), Arroyo, Dell and Bicocchi’s hard work, knowledge and experience has provided positive results for residents.

With a focus on maintaining our borough’s character and improving resident quality of life, this team has delivered.  Over the past six years, residents have benefitted from numerous park improvements including new pathways and seating at Veterans Memorial, McKinley tennis court upgrades and Brookside facility/basketball court improvements. Hegeman Park will receive similar upgrades in 2020.

We have acquired new equipment to keep our community safe and clean including fire apparatus and safety gear, Police Department vehicles and equipment, bulletproof vests for our police reserves and replacement of our DPW’s failing street sweeper, tree truck and chipper.

Many of these improvements have been done in part with grant funding and the 1033 Federal Surplus Program, saving taxpayers millions.

Along with these improvements, this team has been instrumental in delivering an improved financial position for the borough, benefiting residents.  Looking at years 2013–2018 borough debt was reduced by $2.3 million, while surplus increased $1.3 million. Both are on track to improve in 2019. Our municipal yearly tax increase fell over the past six years from a 2014 high of $180 per average assessed home to $10 per average assessed home in 2019. Real progress for Westwood.

Support real continued progress by voting Dell and Bicocchi for council and Arroyo for mayor on Nov. 5.
