COMMUNITY VOICES: ‘Arroyo, Dell, Biccochi for Westwood’

To the editor:

I have lived in Westwood since 1981. My husband Jaymee and I raised our family here. We are active members of the community, and like most residents  feel that Westwood is a special place. We care about the future of Westwood and understand the importance of selecting great leaders.

After 12 years, Mayor Birkner is not seeking re-election. John was one of the first to arrive to pay his condolences after learning that our son Chris was killed nine years ago while serving in Afghanistan. I will always be grateful for his kindness. I am a registered Republican, but voted for John because at the time I believed he was the best choice for our town and he was supported by an experienced council.  I believe that on a local level, regardless of your party affiliation, you choose the right person for the job.

Ray and his running mates, Beth Dell and Rob Bicocchi, have almost 50 years of combined service to our town. This team understands the infrastructure of Westwood and has worked to preserve the charm and character of our town by addressing important land use issues, public safety issues and the individual needs of our residents. They are experienced, well respected, and committed to maintaining the progress of our town. Ray is the current council president and  police liaison, and has served our community on the Zoning Board for eight years and on the Borough Council for seven. They have a true understanding of how local government works.   Because I believe in this team and feel strongly that they should continue to serve our community, I volunteered to get involved in their campaign.

As residents we have an obligation to vote responsibly. It is up to us to know the candidates and to know what they stand for, what they have accomplished and what they can do for us as taxpayers.

I am fully endorsing “The Experienced Team” of Ray Arroyo, Beth Dell, and Rob Bicocchi because I believe that experience does matter. Their proven record stands for itself.
