To the editor:
I am a member of the Emerson Recreation Commission. Brian Downing was our council liaison for many years, and he was without a doubt the best council liaison I ever worked with. Volunteer boards deserve council liaisons who trust their experience and empower volunteers, which is exactly what Brian did.
He was also willing to roll up his sleeves as needed to support our mission. He is well loved in this town for good reason.
Sadly, the Recreation Commission has had three resignations this year, two of them being presiding officers. We need more people like Brian on the council to help support our commissions and boards.
I fully support Brian Downing for Emerson council because I have seen first hand how his love for this town empowers others to serve. Please get out and vote for him on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
